This week’s episode of the I Will Teach You To Be Rich podcast is EXACTLY why I started the podcast. One of my goals with this podcast is to show you how money and psychology interact. I want to help you understand your own attitudes and behaviors with money by taking you behind the closed door of other couples' financial lives. Combined, Arly and Martin make $125k… but Arly is part of a network marketing program (SCAM!) and makes only $3k per year. They also have about $47,500 in debt and are not making any progress in paying it off. It’s causing them a lot of stress, and it’s coming out in peculiar ways. How do you handle money if you and your partner both feel stuck? How do you handle it if you and your partner both tend to ignore it? That’s what we cover this week. And I’m optimistic that Arly and Martin will make the right decisions going forward. [Click here]() to listen to the latest episode of the I Will Teach You To Be Rich podcast. []“I bet my children won’t be able to imagine the holidays without attending that concert” Here’s a great example of turning up the Relationships [Money Dial](): "I buy floor tickets every year for the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and take my family as our Christmas tradition. Every year, it gets more expensive. It's about $400 now, plus dinner is about $500. However, I bet my children won't be able to imagine the holidays without attending that concert and the memories it provides long after I'm gone." –David Frels [David Frels] I love these examples of your Rich Life experiences. Keep sending me photos and stories! []How CEOs and other busy people stay productive with taxi calls I want to show you something that I have put into my life that helps me be way more productive: the taxi call. NOTE: This tip comes from my business program Earnable. In addition to the big, meaty lessons, there are TONS of tips, tricks, scripts, and other little insights like this to help you run your business. [Click here to learn more about Earnable](). Every so often I get business contacts who want to get on the phone and talk about something. If I said yes to every single person, I would be swamped. When you own a business and it starts to grow, you’re going to want to talk to more and more people. You might have vendors that you start to manage. You definitely will have customers. You may want to ask them, “Why’d you sign up? Why did you not? What can I do to improve the service?” So how do you fit them all in? When I lived in New York City, I did a lot of taxi rides and walks. All of us have something like this — a little downtime where we’re commuting or waiting for coffee or standing in line. I decided to fill those up. Here’s what I did: When someone says, “Hey, Ramit. Can we get on the phone for 15 minutes?” I say, “Hey, that’d be awesome. My assistant will help us schedule it.” I send my assistant a note that indicates it’s a taxi call. She knows to look at my calendar and squeeze in roughly 15 minutes. Of course you can do this on your own if you don’t have an assistant. The key is to tell the person, “Is it OK if I call you sometime between 6:25 and 6:45?” I used to think this would be really rude, but it turns out if somebody wants to talk to you, they’re more flexible than you would think. Almost always people say, “Yeah, sure.” So whenever I had free time — after I got out of the gym, when I’m in a taxi — I call them. I say, “I’ve got 15 minutes. I’d love to help. What can I do?” This simple process has allowed me to be so much more productive. Now, a lot of times when people hear this, they say, “So you’re saying I have to be productive all the time?” No, sometimes I just want to listen to music and don’t schedule anything. But I know that I have a lot of amazing opportunities to get on the phone with students, with my staff, with friends who I haven’t had a chance to reconnect with. And it all happens through the magic of a TC — a taxi call. Here’s a tip: Write down a few times in your day or week that you have time for a "taxi call." I think you’ll find more times than you expect. This tip comes from my business program Earnable.
