Of course, the argument is deeper than a purchase that’s a rounding error at their income level. In fact, Katie has deep-seated — and well-founded! — fears about what might happen in the future. She’s worried that a $600 purchase could ultimately lead to homelessness. Why? That’s what we talk about on this week’s episode of the I Will Teach You To Be Rich podcast. Most people believe that once they have more money, they'll stop fighting about it. They'll stop being stressed about it. They have the idea that if they earn 25% more or 50% more, suddenly, all of their financial problems will disappear. In this episode, I help Katie see why that's not true. Your feelings about money are highly uncorrelated with how much money you have in the bank. In this episode, we also discuss: - How gender issues come into play in money conversations, especially in romantic relationships - Logic vs. emotions - Playing defense vs. playing offense with money - A worry-free number Also, an exercise I go through with Shawn and Katie does not go as I planned. And Shawn gives one of the best answers I’ve ever heard. [Click here]() to listen to my conversation with Katie and Shawn on the latest episode of the I Will Teach You To Be Rich podcast. How many of us worry about the economy, what our friend thought of our accidentally rude comment, our parents’ health, and hundreds of other things we can’t control? Not just once — we worry about these things every day. Today, I’ll show you one simple technique to eliminate 99% of your worries. You’ll see how top performers handle world politics, people they don’t like, and the ambiguous “future” — all vague things they can’t control. How to eliminate 99% of your worriesPeople love to worry about practically anything — politics, relationships, gas prices, other people, whatever. The craziest part is that a lot of what we worry about are things we can’t control. My technique to eliminate 99% of my worries is this: Focus on what you can control. Ignore what you can’t. It might sound obvious, but if you take a look at the way you talk about things, you might find that you focus a lot of time on things completely out of your control. For example: the economy. It’s easy to take a look at headlines about inflation and start worrying. These are serious issues — but what good does worrying ultimately do? Instead, consider what you can do about it, like searching for a higher-paying job, saving for an emergency, or maxing out your retirement accounts. Think about your own life. What are the 3 things that are worrying you the most right now? Write them down on a sheet of paper or Google Doc. Then think about what is in your control. Worried about unemployment? Start your job search now by [emailing your network]() for leads. Worried about money? Get your financial house in order by [automating your finances](). By focusing on the things you can control, you start to put yourself in the driver’s seat of your own destiny. That simple reframe can unlock a TON of potential for you, effectively putting you ahead of the vast majority of others who would rather spend their time worrying. How? Because you have the right mental frameworks. And top performers know that having the right mental frameworks can create disproportionate rewards in all areas of life. I call these frameworks Success Triggers because the concepts are so powerful, so striking, that once you hear them, they trigger a change in the entire way you approach challenges … for LIFE. These psychological frameworks will help you go from negative thinking to positive thinking … from scarcity to abundance … from low confidence to supreme confidence, and you have access today. I share them in my own words, with my own specific examples for each Success Trigger.
