[Click here]( [ISO at COP 27, 7-18 November 2022]( Monday 21 November Closing COP27 We spent two intense weeks engaging with policymakers and stakeholders in an effort to promote International Standards as the untapped solution to combat the climate crisis and turn commitments into action. Although the targets are ambitious, we believe that adopting responsible practices based on trusted standards can help deliver on the [agreement reached by the parties]( on Sunday. We particularly welcome breakthrough agreement on loss and damage fund to support the most vulnerable countries. Committed to involving civil society and those most vulnerable to climate change in the development of International Standards, ISO offers a broad portfolio of climate standards, not only to [reduce emissions]( and [adapt to climate change](, but also to [foster sustainable finance]( in any setting. “Collaboration is at the heart of what we do at ISO; we have always taken an inclusive approach to developing and drafting standards. Only by involving everyone – including those most vulnerable to these threats – can we help build a better future. We engage with a wide range of stakeholders to develop standards that are consensus-based and global in their reach,” said Sergio Mujica, Secretary-General of ISO. Key takeaways from COP27 - ISO launched the first globally agreed [Net Zero Guidelines](. The Guidelines provide “a common reference point” on net zero to drive organizations to achieve net zero greenhouse gases as soon as possible and by 2050 at the latest - ISO’s position as an important non-state actor developing climate standards was recognized by the United Nations’ High-Level Expert Group in its [report]( Integrity Matters: Net Zero Commitments by Businesses, Financial Institutions, Cities and Regions, launched at COP27. The report calls on International Standards “to lay out broadly agreed ground rules for mass adoption, particularly across borders”. - [ISO’s official side event]( created synergies around what is needed to strengthen our commitments into action, including how to improve cross-sector collaboration and accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy. - ISO published [ISO 14093:2022, Mechanism for financing local adaptation to climate change — Performance-based climate resilience grants](, based on the [UNCDF LoCAL]( methodology.
