Exciting updates from the Ionic team! Hey Ionites! It's the moment you've all been waiting for…. Ionicons 4! Alright, maybe that wasn’t the V4 you’ve been waiting for (more on that below), but we think you’ll love Ionicons and all the other exciting updates in this glorious month of May. Open Source Updates Ionicons 4.0 Our incredibly popular set of icons have received a major upgrade in this latest release. With a new design that matches closer to each platform, and the latest version shipping icons as Web Components, we think you’re really going to like this release! Check out the[blog post!]( Capacitor Slack and Forums [Capacitor]( our new solution for shipping native apps built on web technology, is gathering quite a community around it. To better handle this, we’ve created dedicated a Slack group and forum. Join the community[slack here]( and the forum[here]( The other 4.0 release The latest version of Ionic Framework (V 4.0) is currently in the hands of a select group of alpha testers. The feedback so far has been very positive, so look for an announcement on beta access soon. We’re also working on some sweet new docs to go with it. Check out this tweet from[Mike Hartington]( about all the new features the docs have. Product Updates Ionic Pro is getting a bunch of updates, and a new look Pro users are getting a major update in the month of May, with lots of new features and fixes from the Pro team. Here are some of the top updates (check out the[release notes]( for the full list): - Git Submodule. If your app uses other publicly available git repositories as submodules, they’ll now be correctly cloned and available to your build process with no additional work necessary on your part. - Deploy v5 Alpha Released. Deploy is getting a bunch of enhancements with this version, including a global CDN and partial downloads to boost performance, rollbacks, and a new API. - New dashboard UI. Pro is getting a little makeover to improve usability as we continue to add new features and capabilities for users. Look out for the new UI and let us know what you think. Status of Ionic View for iOS Many of you have asked for an update on[Ionic View](. To-date, we have not had success persuading Apple to add the View app back in the App Store. Keep an eye out for a more definitive blog update from us in the next week or so. Community News & Events Josh Morony’s Upgrade Guide Ionic 4 release day is almost here, and with it comes a bunch of bug fixes and improvements to the code base. Worried about the upgrade? Don’t be! Josh Morony has documented his upgrade process[in his latest article here](. 6 Apps with One Code Base The community’s own Sani Yusuf spoke at this past ngConf in Salt Lake City about building 6 apps with Ionic. His talk is up on Youtube, so be sure to[give it a watch]( Realtime image sharing Simon over at Devdactic has written a great case study on the technical details going into building an image sharing app using Ionic and Firebase.
