Are You Keeping Track? Hi Avid investor, I'm one of those crazy people who tracks every penny that enters and leaves my checking account (it takes about 30 minutes at the beginning of each month, and I've been doing it for four years). As you may have guessed, I also keep a tight spreadsheet for every stock purchase and sale and include tax calculations, target profit, etc. I read Kat's article on [How to Start a Trading Journal]( and was excited to know this was a "thing." This got me thinking of all the other spreadsheets in my life: I have an amortization spreadsheet for a loan I made to a friend, I have a rental spreadsheet that tracks what I've paid toward the property, I have a spreadsheet that tracks time spent on various projects, and I even have a spreadsheet that tracks books I've read and what the key takeaways were. AM I CRAZY? Nah, I'm not crazy. I'm just aware. Tracking our lives is a way to stay present, to hold ourselves accountable and to maintain focus. If you are a moody person, track what triggers a mood. If you're overweight, track what the heck you're eating. If you have goals in life, track what you actively do to reach those goals. Tracking your life makes you a documented witness to how you live. No one else is responsible for you but you. Benefits of Real Estate Crowdfunding Have you pulled the trigger and invested in real estate crowdfunding? Me neither. We recently updated our review of [CrowdStreet]( a commercial real estate crowdfunding platform based in Oregon, so I thought I'd remind you all of the benefits of investing in RE this way: - The ability to directly invest in commercial real estate. Instead of buying into funds that invest in dozens of properties, investors can buy a stake in specific properties that they choose. - Online convenience. Access to institutional-quality commercial real estate offerings in real time. - National access. Investors aren’t limited to investing locally. They can select the specific property type, the location and the sponsor that best suits their investment strategy and objectives, anywhere in the nation. - The ability to compare and contrast multiple investments. Many platforms allow you to easily and quickly compare and contrast competing offerings to find projects that fit your investment criteria. - Lower minimum investment. Through online crowdfunding platforms, investors can access institutional-quality real estate offerings for as little as $5,000 or $10,000. - Diversification. Investors can invest $10,000 into 10 different deals that vary by geographic regions, sponsors, investment structures, asset classes, risk profiles and holding periods. Have a great week, everyone!! Elizabeth P.S. I got back from Burning Man on Wednesday and just to circle back on cellphone usage - I didn't notice ANY!!! Woo hoo; there is still a place to escape our phones. -- Investor Junkie Helping Make Finance Easy [( --------------------------------------------------------------- Disclaimer: By reading this, you agree to all of the following: You understand this to be an expression of opinions and not professional advice.
