Can Pennies Really Add Up? Hi Avid investor, I have this habit of transferring only even and significant amounts of money to my savings. Meaning, if I have $146 in my checking that I don't need, I won't transfer it to savings or invest it until it becomes an even $500 or perhaps $1,000. Can you guess what happens to that $146? Why, I spend it, of course! I have a strong suspicion I am not alone. I think this habit is rampant and the reason why so many Americans lack sufficient savings. The thinking is this: What's the point of putting away this $30? Thirty bucks in a savings account is nothing, so I might as well just spend it. Teri Geske, a new writer for Investor Junkie, did the math and showed us how $100 per month is $3.33 per day. That's absolutely nothing to most Americans, which is why they aren't bothering to save an extra $100 per month. But $3.33 a day invested in your mid-20s until you're 65 can turn into $83,500! That's definitely not chump change. Read [How You Can Invest With Only $100 a Month]( And speaking of pennies piling up, who has tried investing in penny stocks? They have a terrible reputation, but as Kat points out in the article below, Monster Beverage (the energy drink) was once a penny stock that today trades for $50+! I didn't realize that a penny stock is technically any stock that trades for less than $5. I own Groupon (GRPN), and it trades for around $4.50, so I thought, Do I own a penny stock? But GRPN actually debuted at $22 and has just performed terribly ever since. Anyway, penny stocks sound dangerous, but there's plenty of traders who have become very wealthy by guessing right. Read [What Is a Penny Stock?]( Have a great week, everyone!
