China's Falling Inflation Throws Cold Water on 'Reflation' Hopes

[Click to view in browser](. Dear Investor, China reported inflation data last night, and the headline number was the weakest in more than a decade. To be specific, [China’s]( CPI rose just .5% in October and fell short of economist estimates by .3%. Meanwhile, [China’s]( PPI dropped -2.1% and below expectations of -2%. The weak numbers suggest that China continues to struggle to ‘reflate’ its way out from the COVID-19 crisis. As a result, China’s Shanghai Composite Index was the laggard across Asia overnight, falling -4%. Also, CPI and PPI numbers in the U.S. are due Thursday and Friday this week.
