[Click to view in browser](. Oct 14th 2020 Dear InvestingChannel Reader, The S&P 500 is down for a second day Wednesday. The two-day 1.4% decline has been orderly and not entirely surprising given the S&P 500’s 9% surge in the prior two weeks. Lackluster earnings from major banks are weighing on the financial sector and the broader market took a dip midday after Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin offering cautious comments about the next round of fiscal stimulus, saying that it will be difficult to reach a deal before the elections because significant differences between Democrats and the White House remain. Earnings from other financial names—Schwab (SCHW), Morgan Stanley (MS)—will help set the tone for trading tomorrow. Weekly jobless claims, manufacturing data, and import/export prices are on tap Thursday morning as well, then focus shifts to a report on retail sales Friday. The floodgates on Q3 earnings reports then open wide next week and, with the elections just three weeks away, get ready for choppy market action through month end.
