mlns='> ’Tis the season to review and reflect [View Message in Browser]( / [Add Us to Safe Sender List]( [Content Marketing Institute]( [Content Marketing Institute]( Daily News and Alert 12.11.23 Connect with CMI Hi there, Today.com came out with a [hard-hitting [/s] story]( last week claiming that parents who use Santa’s “naughty or nice” list aren’t doing children any favors. Well, yeah. That’s not exactly a new take, though I appreciate the [2019 PSA from the National Association on Mental Illness]( they dug out to illustrate the point. In it, Santa realizes, “These kids — they’re not naughty or nice, they’re kids.” [Santa Claus reflects on the impact of his naughty or nice list in this screen capture from a 2019 PSA from the National Association on Mental Illness.]( It also made me view this [good marketer/bad marketer]( opinion piece in Marketing Dive (owned, like CMI, by Informa) in a different light. Initially, I planned to ask you how you’d separate a “good” content marketer from a “bad” one. But it’s been a tough few years for everyone (as [this essay]( reminds us). Finger-pointing and labeling rarely help. Let’s reframe the conversation to focus on practices and outcomes rather than simplifying it to good and bad. Here are some questions I’m asking myself and my team as we reflect on the year: - What worked well? - What accomplishments are you most proud of? - Where and how can we improve? - What should we do more of? - What should we stop doing? I’d love to hear your answers and which questions you reflect on at year’s end. [Drop me a line anytime.]( Here are some resources to help you do, review, and reflect on your work this week.  Kim Moutsos Vice President of Editorial Content Marketing Institute [Share your feedback](mailto:kim.moutsos@informa.com?subject=CMI%20content%20feedback&elqTrackId=64550BB2B7DCF779B66C47D5721093C2)  ICYMI: [Before You Start an AI Strategy, Make the Case To Stop]( Generative AI is the headline example, this Robert Rose column encourages you to reflect on what to stop before starting anything new.  Wednesday: [Grow Up! Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
