mlns='> How do you feel about how much you make? [View Message in Browser]( / [Add Us to Safe Sender List]( [Content Marketing Institute]( Daily News and Alert 9.18.23 Connect with CMI Hi there, New York’s pay transparency law officially went into effect yesterday. (California and several other states already require companies to list a salary range for open positions.) To mark the occasion, let’s talk money. Feel free to hum along if you now have [that song]( in your head. More than half (54%) of all the marketers surveyed for [CMI’s career and salary research]( (registration required) said they should be paid more for their work. A new [Hootsuite study]( found a similar number of social media managers (51%) said they deserve more pay (you’ll have to register for this one, too). So, what should you do if you want a higher salary? You could look for a new job (here are [some listings]( that look interesting to us). Or you could make the case to your current manager that you deserve more for what you do. Here’s some good news: Hootsuite found that three out of four social marketers who asked for a raise got one. This recent Harvard Business Review article [on salary negotiations]( might help, too. Good luck! In the meantime, here are some resources to help you in your work.
