Our job isn't to fight it, but to weather it together, on the raft of life.” This quote comes from the Community episode Remedial Chaos Theory, which explored how different (and mostly worse) the lives of that show’s core group would be without each member. Most IRL communities weather the coming and going of individual members just fine – as long as others step up to contribute. You can see this in action in the #CMWorld Slack group. Every weekday, host Jeremy Bednarski throws out a question for the group to discuss. But just as many conversations come from group members, who also are extraordinarily generous with their support and answers. Here are some helpful discussions and resources from the last two weeks (links go directly to each topic, but you’ll need to [join the group]( to see them): - [How to measure SME content contributions]( (May 8) - [Challenges and opportunities created by open-source alternatives to ChatGPT]( (May 8) - [How to decide when to update, refresh, or create new content]( (May 11) - [How to follow Robert Rose’s advice to plan content by focusing on message first (not container or channel first)]( (May 9) CMI isn’t the only organization that hosts a branded Slack channel or community group. Our most [recent B2B research]( shows a big uptick in the percentage of marketers who said they planned to invest in social media/community building (57% compared with 39% the previous year). That’s got me curious: Does your organization host, invest in, or participate in a (branded or industry) community? Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
