mlns='> Every now and then I get a little bit nervous [View Message in Browser]( / [Add Us to Safe Sender List]( [Content Marketing Institute]( [Content Marketing Institute]( Daily News and Alert 4.8.24 Connect with CMI Hi there, Do you ever feel like social media used to be more fun? Sure, part of the change has to do with the devolution of Twitter into X, which this MoonPie tweet captures so well (while ignoring the brand change): [March 14 tweet from @MoonPie reads: Twitter in 2015: eat 3.14 MoonPies today! Haha!! Twitter today: *unsettling silence*] But X is hardly the only thing dragging social down. How about the endless invitations to subscribe to random newsletters on LinkedIn? The oh-so-obvious brand-influencer collaborations on Instagram? The corporate cringe-y comments on TikTok. It’s easy to feel a little bit nervous that the best of social media has gone by. And maybe that’s true. But every now and then a marketing team gets a little bit restless and dreams of something wild — like an eclipse-inspired WWE-style [faceoff between the sun and the moon.]( [MoonPie presents Sun vs Moon '24. Brutality in the Totality April 8, 2024 - 1:27PM.]( Is it MoonPie’s best work? You’ll have to decide. I prefer the “[alienfluencer]( campaign (complete with a downloadable whitepaper) or its simple [Hostess takedown]( and other subtly goofy content. But seeing the latest campaign sent me down the MoonPie social rabbit hole, which is a pretty entertaining place. Spending time on the brand’s recent content on [Instagram]( [Threads]( and [X]( reminded me that the goodwill generated by good content lasts. We thought about going dark today to avoid distracting you from the astrological phenomenon about to happen across North America. But we wanted to shine a light on ideas and resources to help you with your work this week.  Kim Moutsos Vice President of Editorial Content Marketing Institute [Share your feedback](mailto:kim.moutsos@informa.com?subject=CMI%20content%20feedback&elqTrackId=64550BB2B7DCF779B66C47D5721093C2)  ICYMI: [Government Agencies Get Real, Funny, and Human on Social Media [Examples]]( Consumer brands aren’t the only ones yukking it up on social. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
