[The Independent]( August 04, 2023 [View online]( [Morning Headlines]( 1 /[Trump pleads not guilty to federal conspiracy charges in plot to overturn 2020 election]( [Donald Trump]( has pleaded not guilty to four criminal charges stemming from his attempt to overturn the election he lost to [Joe Biden]( less than three years ago. [Mr Trump]( entered his plea on the second-floor courtroom at the E Barrett Prettyman Courthouse in [Washington DC]( on 3 August, just a short walk from where a mob of his supporters began assaulting police officers at the start of the January 6 attack on the US Capitol. The twice-impeached, now-thrice-indicted ex-presidentâs appearance in criminal court â his third since April â comes just two days after a Washington DC grand jury charged him with three criminal conspiracies and obstruction in connection with his attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. In a poetic twist of fate, Mr [Trump](âs latest arraignment brought him to the exact same courthouse where hundreds of people have been tried, convicted and sentenced to terms in prison as long as 18 years for charges in connection with January 6. Mr Trump, the man Liz Cheney once credited with having âassembledâ and âsummonedâ members of the mob, is now the latest defendant among them. 2 /[Dan Wootton suspended by MailOnline as claims he offered cash for sexual images investigated]( âWe are continuing to consider a series of allegations which Dan Wootton has strenuously denied,â says publisher 3 /[NHS doctor who suffered sexual assault by fellow medic has sex life questioned]( Exclusive: âI felt so humiliated, knowing that such a private recording about me and my sexual assault had been spread around the hospitalâ 4 /[Greenpeace activists arrested after climbing on Sunakâs home and covering it in black fabric]( Activists blanketed his home in protest at Rishi Sunakâs new âdrilling frenzyâ 5 /[Lizzo breaks silence and says dancersâ lawsuit claims are âfalseâ: âI am not the villainâ]( Former employees allege inappropriate conduct by the âTruth Hurtsâ singer THE BIG QUESTION [Heartstopper is undeniably sweet â but are teens really this well behaved?]( Iâm glad [Heartstopper](exists. When it premiered last year, it fulfilled a desire to see queer teens be queer teens. Before [Netflix](âs wholesome high-school drama came along, young people had to look to shows such as [Riverdale](, [Elite](and the new [Gossip Girl](for representation, only to be shown gorgeous 28-year-olds playing a decade younger. Heartstopper, which Alice Oseman has adapted from her extremely popular webcomic series, was made to be authentic, to directly mirror the people watching it. The show returned for season two today and its cast, now newly minted queer stars after season oneâs runaway success, look older and more mature. Itâs strange, then, that their characters seem frozen in time, writes [Patrick Sproull](.
