The ramifications were felt across the world, not just politically, but in its contribution to [rising food](, energy and fuel prices. A [major breakthrough]( over nuclear fusion was announced in December that could pave the way for abundant clean energy in the future, a few weeks after the world met in Egypt at Cop27. [At that summit](, a historic agreement was reached on a fund to compensate developing countries for losses and damage caused by the climate crisis – although there is much work left to do. Beyond the Earth, the successful [Artemis I mission]( marked the first step towards a return to the moon for astronauts.
