The Independent's Morning Headlines email [View online]( March 07, 2022 [Morning Headlines]( 1 / [Russia claims it will allow civilian evacuations as Zelensky vows to 'punish everyone' after family killed]( Russia has said this morning that it is opening new humanitarian corridors across multiple Ukrainian cities to allow civilians to evacuate. The pledge comes after similar attempts at Mariupol failed when Russian forces continued to shell civilians during the agreed ceasefire hours, according to Ukraine. Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenksy accused Russian of purposefully attacking people as they fled, saying: "Instead of humanitarian corridors, they can only make bloody ones." He said that a mother, father, and their two children were killed trying to leave Irpin, near Kyiv. Russian state media have said that the new humanitarian corridors will be opened from the cities of Kyiv, Kharkiv, Mariupol and Sumy. They report that the corridors are being set up at the personal request of French President Emmanuel Macron. There are also reports of a Russian attack on the city of Mykolaiv near the Black Sea in southern Ukraine. 2 / [Trapped: The battle to escape Putin's wrath]( Dispatch: Defence editor Kim Sengupta reports from Irpin, a prime target for Russian forces trying to encircle Kyiv. 3 / [Oil prices jump to 13-year high amid possible Western ban on Russian oil over invasion of Ukraine]( US in 'active discussions' with European allies to boycott Putin's main export 4 / [Priti Patel under fire after 'only 50 visas' issued for Ukraine refugees]( Home secretary challenged over why 'only 1% of UK visa applications have been granted' 5 / [Tech-savvy Ukrainians tap into networks of cabbies and couch surfers to help civilians fleeing war]( Dispatch: Ukraine is one of Europe's top tech hubs and volunteers are harnessing apps, websites and social media to help citizens get to safety, reports Middle East correspondent Bel Trew from Khmelnytskyi.
