It's been a busy few days in the world of culture. Last night's Baftas continued this strange streak of awards ceremonies actually making good decisions. Two brilliant films, Nomadland and Promising Young Woman, took home the major wins, and I was thrilled to see Rocks' Bukky Bukray win the public-voted Rising Star Award, too. [Check out all the talking points here.]( Before we get on to this week's content, I should tell you that we've got some exciting interviews coming up. Last night, I zoomed queen of deadpan Aubrey Plaza, and we chatted about her thrilling new meta-drama Black Bear, as well as her legendary chat show appearances and her long campaign to get a lesbian romcom made. That interview will be running later this month. Last week, we ran [this fantastic interview with Benedict Cumberbatch,](whose new film The Mauritanian tells the real-life story of a Guantanamo Bay detainee. First Aid Kit's Johanna and Klara Soderberg âHoping? Iâm going to plead with the guy,â said Cumberbatch when our writer James Mottram asked if he hoped Joe Biden would close the barbaric detention centre. âItâs an atrocious own goal, I think, for the free world to be incarcerating people through extraordinary rendition, torturing them and extracting confessions they think are then usable in prosecution⦠it is a really dangerous, unnecessary and ineffectual place, I think, and enough people have suffered there.â Tell us what you're really thinking, Benedict.
