It all got a bit much. I started to shut down (literally – I fell asleep). So thank goodness that something else is arriving on TV this weekend to make me feel overexcited, in the form of Euros 2024. The anxious Kathy (Bronté Barbé, livewire and brilliant) and the steely Stella (Rebekah Hinds, belting out the tunes like a woman possessed) make for a delightful odd couple. The writing, meanwhile, by Jon Brittain and Matthew Floyd Jones, is timely, funny, and as light as a soufflé – despite the decapitations.
