INC. THIS MORNING Going beyond a day off Good morning, It’s official: Juneteenth is a national holiday. On Thursday, President Joe Biden signed a bill declaring June 19 an annual federal holiday, after the legislation was approved by both chambers of Congress. Juneteenth honors June 19, 1865, when a proclamation in Galveston, Texas, declared that slaves were finally free--two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It’s the oldest known commemoration of the end of slavery in the U.S. For many business owners, the question isn't whether to celebrate the historical event, but how. While time off is the most common way to honor the day, many businesses are going a step further. Read our story to [learn how companies are celebrating this Juneteenth in particularly interesting ways]( from virtual runs and donation matching to the launch of a new Black Business Accelerator.
