Voting rights are the first line of defense in protecting our democracy. {NAME}, Today we observe Juneteenth – the day that more than 250,000 enslaved Black Americans were finally liberated by federal troops more than two years after President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth is a powerful reminder that the fight for liberty does not end when we change an unjust law. It was another 100 years before we passed the Voting Rights Act guaranteeing the right to vote. Nearly 60 years later, voting rights are STILL under constant attack from MAGA Republicans – particularly since the 2020 election. According to the Voting Rights Lab, last year alone 14 states passed new voting restrictions. Now the Kansas Supreme Court recently ruled that voting is not a fundamental right at all. [A screenshot of a headline that reads: “Kansas Constitution does not include a right to vote, state Supreme Court majority says.”]( When they aren’t defending insurrectionists or peddling election-denying conspiracies, extremists like Lauren Boebert have repeatedly blocked progress on strengthening federal voting protections. No surprise there — they know they can't win in a fair fight. The right to vote and free and fair elections are the beating heart of a healthy democracy. It’s a democracy I have fought and sacrificed for, and to have Boebert and her MAGA allies attacking those rights is an insult to everything I stand for. [If you want a congressman who values voting rights as the cornerstone of our liberties and stands strong against MAGA extremists – contribute now!]( I am committed to expanding and strengthening voting rights. I will help pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and work to restore the full text of the original Voting Rights Act, weakened by recent SCOTUS rulings. Safeguarding the right to vote is a primary duty of our government, and I will ensure that we uphold this duty. We must enact automatic voter registration, expand early voting, and adopt mail-in paper ballots nationwide. Let’s end gerrymandering and make Election Day a national holiday. Lauren Boebert and her MAGA allies are determined to undermine our democracy and strip away our fundamental rights in a vain attempt to hold on to power. Not on our watch. [We’re up 14 points on Boebert in the latest polls. We’re the strongest campaign to kick an election-denying, insurrectionist ally out of Congress and out of our district for good. Contribute today to help us get the job done and tell Boebert that nobody messes with our voting rights.]( Thank you for standing with us in the fight for our democracy. Semper Fi, Ike McCorkle Combat Wounded U.S. Marine Corps, Retired Democratic Candidate for CO-04 [Help Ike Fight]( Ike McCorkle Ike McCorkle is a Purple Heart recipient and Marine Force Recon Veteran polling 7 points ahead of Lauren Boebert and running to flip Colorado's 4th Congressional District.
