Did you know that your taxpayer dollars fund the pensions of convicted congressional criminals? Hell

Did you know that your taxpayer dollars fund the pensions of convicted congressional criminals? Hello Friend, Did you know that your taxpayer dollars fund the pensions of convicted congressional criminals? That’s right. Your hard-earned tax dollars are helping to support former members of Congress found guilty of crimes or serious ethical violations. A recent review of the cases of 11 congressional members convicted of criminal activity since 2007 who also qualified for a pension (plus the two members of the House censured for serious ethical violations) revealed some shocking information. All 13 convicted or censured congress members were still receiving their pensions, leaving taxpayers like you on the hook for nearly $4 MILLION total. How is that fair to you? Let me introduce myself. My name is Pete Sepp, President of the National Taxpayers Union (NTU). We are fighting for taxpayers to revoke these privileges and rein in corruption. [I am personally asking for your immediate help. My goal is to raise $13,000 (or $1,000 per former lawmaker) this weekend so we can hold these congressional criminals accountable. Can you send a gift of $10, $35, $50, or any amount? Click here ]( Fifteen years ago, Congress passed the Honest Leadership and Open Government Act (HLOGA) to stop Congressional felons from receiving a taxpayer-funded pension. Another, even “tougher” law followed in 2012. But so far, not a single congressional felon has faced the consequences of their actions. Right now, former Rep. Stephen Buyer, R-Ind., is having insider trading charges brought against him. IF he is convicted of those charges and his taxpayer-funded pension stripped, he would be the first member of Congress ever held accountable under these laws. Obviously, the current pension forfeiture laws have not provided adequate deterrence. Reforms are needed to protect taxpayers and to shed transparency on enforcing forfeiture laws. [Do you think we should protect taxpayers from subsidizing Congressional wrongdoers? You can help NTU put a STOP to this practice. All you have to do is send your urgent gift today ]( Special interests have their lobbyists. But who is working for you as a taxpayer? It’s simple — the National Taxpayers Union. Since 1969, NTU has proudly been a major player in signature taxpayer victories of the past five decades: - We were there when the federal tax code was overhauled under President Reagan in 1986. - We championed the cause for a “Taxpayer Bill of Rights” in the late 80s and 90s and with follow-on legislation, the 2019 Taxpayer First Act. - In 2017, NTU was the driving force behind the successful push for comprehensive tax reform. - In 2020, our public education arm launched the Taxpayer Defense Center to fight for taxpayers in court. TDC has already helped to hand the IRS two major defeats in the Supreme Court. It’s time to stop wasting taxpayer dollars on corrupt politicians. Can you join the fight and help NTU stop corruption and waste in DC? Click below to send your gift.
