[Letter to the Senate Commerce Committee, September 2018](
On September 24, 2018, IAB sent a letter to the Chairman and Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation in advance of their September 26 hearing examining safeguards for consumer data privacy. [Michael Texidor & Breda OâReilly to Serve in Key Leadership Positions at IAB](
The IAB announced that Michael Texidor has been promoted to Vice President, Learning and Development, and Breda OâReilly has been named Vice President, Investment and Relations.Michael Texidor joined IAB in 2016 as the Director of IABâs learning and certification operations portfolio, where he was responsible for managing the development of certification operations team members through the execution of IAB certification programs with over 15,000 participants. In his new role Texidor will be responsible for overseeing and growing the learning and certification programs, which includes Digital Media Sales Certification. He will also lead the development of new training programs focused on skill development, research, thought leadership, and best practices, further helping the IAB become an education resource for its members and the whole digital media and marketing economy. He will also look to further engage IAB members through the building of a community, centered on professional development and create a peer network of skilled, digital media, and marketing professionals.

[IAB Submits Feedback to European Commission on Privacy Shield](
Last month, at the request of the European Commission, IAB provided feedback on the practical implementation and operation of the EU-US Privacy Shield Framework within the context of the digital advertising industry. [IAB Tech Lab Releases OpenMedia Specs, Including OpenRTB 3.0, and Kicks Off Beta Tests](
IAB Tech Lab released OpenRTB 3.0 built on the framework from September, as the second step in its introduction to the ecosystem. New specifications to support OpenRTB have also been made available for public comment -- ads.cert, AdCOM, and the Ad Management API -- all designed to promote healthy growth of the digital advertising programmatic marketplace. Use of the OpenRTB 3.0 tech spec in conjunction with ads.cert, AdCOM, and the Ad Management API will improve security and support new use cases in OpenRTB on both the buy and sell sides, ultimately facilitating a better consumer experience.
