. --------------------------------------------------------------- 😎 What Went Down at the Was

[Hypegolf] February 22, 2024 Weekly Digest 👀 Here's A First Look at the Air Jordan Mule Golf "University Blue" TLDR: Love them or hate them, Jordan Brand has unveiled the latest iteration of its all-new Air Jordan Mule Golf shoes. The easy-to-wear slip-on is set to arrive later this year in a “University Blue” colorway as it allows for hands-free wear and gives your feet a break from the spikes. Why It Matters: Jordan Brand's new slip-on AJ1 Golf silhouette has garnered a lot of discussion since the first colorway was revealed in late January. The most common gripe appears to be 'who asked for these'? It's a fair question, but people may be missing the point that the shoes are meant as a casual slip-on for pre or post round. But you'd have to say it's an odd direction to go nonetheless. These are a few of Hypegolf’s favorite moments from the weekend. Why It Matters: The Waste Management Phoenix Open, or “The People’s Open” as it’s also known, brings together every corner of the golf industry in a way that’s unique to Arizona. Basically, it’s one big weekend of golf and partying. Whether watching through a screen or up close and personal the tournament has a way of grabbing people’s attention and refusing to let go. This year the Phoenix Open made headlines for both the right and wrong reasons. Think in the neighborhood of $100 USD for hats and $250 USD for sweaters. Why It Matters: Since making the switch over from Nike to Malbon Golf at the outset of the year, Jason Day has sparked debate over his roomy trousers. But on Saturday at last weekend’s Genesis Invitational the Australian golfer swapped out Malbon’s retro inspired pieces in favor of a sleeker, more athletic silhouette. It turns out this was the first glimpse of Malbon's new premium line: Preserve. It remains to be seen if this designation will be slapped on future releases as well. Naturally, that leads to a younger and more diverse makeup of fans, and you can really see that in the way people are dressed. Why It Matters: While spectators have historically mirrored the fashion of the competing professionals (think golf shoes or runners, khaki shorts and polyester polo shirts), those attending the Genesis Invitational tend to favor indie brands that are disrupting the traditional golf uniform. On Sunday at the tournament we saw people wearing the likes of local brands Metalwood Studio and Quiet Golf, Arizona-based Devereux Golf and Black-owned Eastside Golf.
