ð Tiger Woods and Nike Part Ways After Nearly 30 Years TLDR: On Monday morning the news erupted that Tiger Woods and Nike's legendary 27 year partnership had come to an end. Nike announced the news with a simple caption saying "It was a hell of a round, Tiger." and Tiger added his own letter of gratitude on his channel. Why It Matters: Even if the writing was on the wall, before Monday morning it still felt like there was a sliver of hope that Tiger and Nike's relationship could be salvaged. Now the golf world has been left wondering how such an iconic partnership could have possibly fell apart. If there was anyone who deserved a lifelong contract at Nike, it was Tiger. We'll have a lot more on this later in the week, so stay tuned. Read the full article [here](. ---------------------------------------------------------------
ð Here's Why Jason Day Made the Switch From Nike to Malbon TLDR: After Malbon announced the signing of former world number 1 Jason Day last week, we caught up with Jason and Malbon co-founder Stephen Malbon to find out how the partnership came about, and what to expect over the course of the 2024 season. Why It Matters: Only three days into being sponsored by Malbon, Jason Day made headlines wearing a pair of the brand's patterned, wide leg trousers. That it ruffled as many feather as it did says a lot about the homogeneous nature of style on tour. In almost any normal context nobody would bat an eye, yet angry golf fans took to social media in droves. Frankly, we're already chomping at the bits to see what Jason wears at the season's first major. It's going to be a fun year. ð¥ The Kirkland Driver Is the Hot Dog Combo Deal of Golf TLDR: $200 USD is a fantastic price for a new driver, but the price means little if the product doesn't perform. That's why we had take the Kirkland Signature Driver out the golf course to see if it could live up its reputation Why It Matters: Let's just get this out of the way now, Tiger is not signing with Kirkland, nor is any tour pro anytime soon. But once it's back in stock again, the Kirkland Signature Driver is an amazing option for the average player looking to update their equipment without breaking the bank. On our first go, it was easy to hit and find the fairway reliably on a damp winter day. Go get your driver and don't forget the hot dog/soda combo on the way out. ð¤ What Will Be Tiger's Next Move? TLDR: In the statement Tiger Woods posted to his Instagram he said “People will ask if there is another chapter. Yes, there will certainly be another chapter. See you in LA.” It was an interesting hint, and more information than he needed to share. With that in mind, we explored the five rumors going around about where Tiger could be headed. Why It Matters: Out of every option out there, TaylorMade appears to be the likeliest choice for Tiger at the moment. Since joining TaylorMade six years ago Tiger has appeared in a number of the brand's videos and promotions, and its talented creative team would no doubt be up for the challenge. After that, Greyson may have a chance, but for an up-and-comer the numbers just don't seem to add up. What's left? A TW brand, but does Tiger have the time for that? ðª PXG Tips Its Cap to All the Brave Veterans and First Responders TLDR: Ahead of its 2024 drivers, woods and hybrids release, equipment brand PXG offered Veterans and first responders a unique opportunity to get an early look at the product. Said groups were invited to attend a number of launch parties across America, where they could get fit and purchase the clubs at a significant discount. Why It Matters: Amidst a sea of new and expensive clubs, equipment season can often feel like an empty money grab, but it's nice to see PXG continuing to do right by the people who have sacrificed for the country. Although the brand started out as a high end option for country club types, over the years it has pivoted to bring more people into the conversation. More details on the 2024 release will arrive on Thursday, and expect a review to come as well.
