There's no doubt he looked a lot better compared to when we last saw him limping around Augusta National. Why It Matters: Everyone understands that father time is undefeated, and Tiger isn't getting any younger at this point. But if you're a Tiger fan looking at the glass half full, the prospect of him playing once a month, which he stated as his goal for the forseeable future, is almost mouth watering. And although Jack Nicklaus's 18 career major championships is surely out of reach now, Tiger only needs one more PGA TOUR victory to break Sam Snead's record of 82. Why It Matters: Sneaker culture is alive and well in golf, and it's so fascinating to see how it manifests. The release was reportedly very limited. Why It Matters: With an outgoing personality, affinity for motocross and bold style, Rickie Fowler was once dubbed the new guard of golf; part of an up-and-coming crop of players who were going to make golf appeal to the next generation. While things didn't exactly pan out that way, he no doubt remains one of the more recognizable figures in the game, and he more than deserves his own signature golf shoe. TLDR: After letting go of its lead analyst Paul Azinger ahead of next season, as well as a long-time on air talents Gary Koch and Roger Maltbie previously, it would appear change is on the horizon for NBC and it's golf coverage. But it's unclear where it's all headed. Why It Matters: Although the emphasis is shifting away from golf as a spectator sport for many audiences, people still tune in for big events, and NBC's coverage has been found wanting time and again. A source familiar with the company spoke about how commercials are on the rise, while specialty cameras are on the decline. None of this is a good look for the PGA TOUR ultimately, especially as LIV Golf and Netflix continue to seek out innovation. In MANORS, you have a brand geared towards gorpcore enthusiasts and product nerds, while with Gumtree Golf & Nature Club you get vintage lovers and outdoors people. And yet somehow there's a crossover. Why It Matters: In the absense of a game changing player like Tiger Woods, up-and-coming brands have the potential to shift golf's perception by introducing a wide range of influences. Although the scale is nowhere near as large compared to Tiger's initial burst, it does feel like the changes happening now are more sustainable.
