ð Toyota Teases First Look at All-New EV Sports Car and SUV TLDR: Toyota has shown off a new sporty coupe named the FT-Se, but the car culture community is thinking it goes by a different name: MR2. Why It Matters: When the MR2 came out in the mid-80s, it was the brand's affordable-yet-exciting mid-engined sports coupe. Over the years the MR2 gained a cult following for its (M)id-engined (R)ear wheel drive nature – rare for its price range – but it eventually got phased out in the 2007. Toyota's new teasers show a two-seater, two-door, yoke-wheeled "GR" car; all of the ingredients of the beloved MR2, albeit as an electric vehicle that wouldn’t technically be in “the middle.” Nevertheless, it's certainly exciting. ð Porsche and TAG Heuer Collaborate on Highly Limited 718 Cayman GT4 RS TLDR: Porsche, in collaboration with Porsche Latin America and TAG Heuer, has created two unique 718 Cayman GT4 RS models under the ‘Sonderwunsch’ (Special Request) program. Why It Matters: At the exterior, the vehicles nod to the past and future, painted in Le Mans Silver Metallic, a color reminiscent of the 356 SL Coupé, the winner of the first 24 Hours of Le Mans. Racing numbers 152 and 154 adorn the door panels and roof, while additional applications include an oversized TAG Heuer hit on the hood as well as dual Pegasuses on the rear fender. Inside, TAG Heuer even outfitted a custom-made mechanical three-hand clock module in the center console for time-keeping during rally racing. The vehicle’s exterior color, “Lyrical Copper,” captures the golden darkness or ethereal glow of a solar eclipse. While the vehicle features a countless number of stunning details, its illuminated fascia stands out as the star of the show — as it boasts over 1,846 laser-etched “stars,” narrating the chronicle of a total solar eclipse. 𥱠Tesla’s New ‘Driver Drowsiness Warning’ Detects Yawns and Closed Eyes TLDR: Tesla is gearing up to introduce “Driver Drowsiness Warning”, a new safety feature meant to reduce car accidents and incidents where the driver loses focus during long distance journeys.â Why It Matters: Statistics show that Drowsiness is one of the leading causes of accidents each year, accounting for upwards of 100,000 cases annually. Tesla’s new feature will use its internal cameras to pick up on “facial characteristics” such as yawning and even extended periods of blinking. The car will display an alert on the touchscreen monitor and an alarm will sound. No word yet on when the feature will release, as hackers discovered it while combing the car’s software. Why It Matters: The iconic Zeppelin speaker design is given a custom look, dominated by a “Galvanic Grey” finish and subtle “Papaya Orange” contrasting stand. Performance-wise, the Zeppelin Mclaren Edition retains its powerful 240W of amplification as well as centralized deep bass subwoofer. B&W has also introduced wireless multi-room capability with alongside the McLaren Edition Zeppelin, allowing for limitless speaker setup possibilities within your home, all controlled via the Bowers & Wilkins Music app. Only 60 units of the limited McLaren edition will be made available.
