ð UNDERCOVER's Jun Takahashi Announces First Solo Exhibition TLDR: A collection of oil paintings by Takahashi will be unveiled for the very first time which were not meant to be seen by the public but offer a unique opportunity to experience his worldview as well as a look into the inner stories of his subjects. Why It Matters: Jun Takahashi, the celebrated Japanese designer behind the fashion label UNDERCOVER, has announced his first-ever solo exhibition will go live via Tokyo-based GALLERY TARGET. The exhibition, titled “THEY CAN SEE MORE THAN YOU CAN SEE,” features a collection of 26 oil paintings that Takahashi has been working on since 2013 through his own self-teachings. Honoring Musicians & Actors: GALLERY TARGET shared that “Amidst his extremely busy work, he continued to paint on his own through self-study, becoming captivated by the freedom of expression that allowed him to choose motifs and complete the paintings by himself. The main subjects of these paintings are portraits of musicians and actors who have had a significant impact on his life.” Read the full article [here](. ---------------------------------------------------------------
ð¤ Artwork by Henry Taylor Takes Centerstage at Kendrick Lamar's Latest Shows TLDR: The Los Angeles-based rapper was seen performing hits in front of large reproductions of Henry Taylor’s paintings 'Fatty' (2006) and 'Sweet' (2012) from Primavera Sound to his latest performance at Lollapalooza. Why It Matters: Lamar and Taylor, who both proudly hail from LA, have been fans of each other for some time now. In collaboration with Hauser & Wirth, the two sides enlarged the artwork as big as 60 feet wide by 34 feet tall across a polyester silk fabric that gives an added pop to the original paintings. Connecting History: “We all see a lot of things that are so polished and overly stylized or overly computer-generated, but I really feel the stories in Henry’s art,” Carson added. “As a Black man, I definitely see a lot of my history and a lot of my family’s history—and I’m sure a lot of other people do too.” Read the full article [here](. ---------------------------------------------------------------
