The latest from the HSUS. [The Humane Society of the United States]() [Your impact this month] [A small and skinny puppy]( [20+ dogs rescued from alleged neglect]( The Humane Society of the United States assisted the Vidalia Police Department and Vidalia Animal Control in rescuing more than 20 dogs and puppies from an alleged neglect situation at a residential property in Vidalia, Louisiana. Local authorities served a search and seizure warrant at approximately 8 a.m. on Sept. 19. The dogs were found scattered around the yard—many restrained on chains and wandering through tall, thick grass and debris. Our Animal Rescue Team found a group of six juveniles in a small fenced-in pen with a single worn tarp overhead. Many of the dogs had no apparent access to clean water, food or adequate shelter. [Watch the video to see this incredible rescue.]( [A rescued cat being held]( [110 cats and kittens recovering after rescue from alleged cruelty situation]( Our team found a total of 110 Maine Coon-type cats and kittens on a Virginia property and worked quickly to transport them to an undisclosed location to receive in-depth veterinary exams and treatment. [A group of caged lemurs]( [Rescued from a shuttered zoo, the newest sanctuary residents find home at Black Beauty Ranch]( Ten lemurs, four macaques, two llamas, two coatis, three emus and an ostrich have made remarkable recoveries and are living their best lives at our Black Beauty Ranch in Murchison, Texas. [A group of piglets in the grass]( [Pigs are intelligent, emotional animals, and here’s what we’re doing to protect them]( Study after study shows that pigs are intelligent, emotional beings. Some pigs have even learned how to play video games by manipulating a joystick with their snouts, with a tasty snack as a reward! [HSUS donor Carrie and her two dogs]( [Always drawn to help animals, Carrie found meaningful involvement with the HSUS]( Carrie began donating to the HSUS many years ago, and truly appreciates the work that we do, which she sees firsthand as a volunteer. She has made plans to help us carry out our mission long after her lifetime.
