[Urge the USDA to amend and strengthen its Horse Protection Act regulations.]( [The Humane Society of the United States]() [Tennessee walking horse]( {NAME}, [Tomorrow is the deadline to take action on the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s recently proposed amendments to the Horse Protection Act regulations.]( These amendments present a tremendous opportunity to end the cruel practice of soring. Soring is an abusive practice where trainers purposefully inflict pain on horses’ hooves and legs to create an artificial high-stepping gait. Trainers use a slew of gruesome techniques, including using caustic chemicals to burn a horse’s legs and flesh, cutting the hooves down and jamming hard or sharp objects into their delicate tissue. No horse should have to suffer for a blue ribbon. Your support can help protect horses! [Please tell USDA to update the HPA regulations to once and for all put an end to soring]( so that horses are no longer subjected to such cruel treatment. Together, we can make a real difference and secure a brighter future for these beautiful animals.
