The latest from the HSUS. The Humane Society of the United States assisted the Gaston County Police

The latest from the HSUS. [The Humane Society of the United States]() [Your impact this month] [Two rescued dogs]( [Dogs rescued from alleged dogfighting]( The Humane Society of the United States assisted the Gaston County Police Department and their Animal Care and Enforcement Unit in rescuing 14 dogs from an alleged dogfighting and cruelty situation in Gaston County, North Carolina. On August 2, local authorities served a search and seizure warrant on a residential property at approximately 6:30 a.m. The dogs were found living in makeshift, hazardous enclosures throughout the property, some with visible scarring consistent with injuries typically seen in dogfighting operations. Veterinarians noted dental issues, skin conditions, missing hair and puncture wounds on some of the dogs. We found dogfighting paraphernalia throughout the property. The dogs are getting the care and attention they deserve. [See their story here!]( [Shirley Temple the dog]( [Shirley Temple was so excited to meet her rescuers]( Shirley Temple was the very first dog rescued in Gaston County, North Carolina. While many of the others were fearful when rescuers got to the scene, Shirley was waiting to greet them with kisses and ready to be pulled off her chain. [A person holding a cat crate]( [Helping hundreds of families and their animals after Hurricane Idalia]( When we learned that Hurricane Idalia would likely make landfall, we identified the best means for us to help care for animals and support the people who care about them. [An injured horse]( [New regulations could finally protect horses from 'soring' cruelty]( There’s new hope for ending the painful practice of horse soring: a long-awaited new administrative rule from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, one that’s badly needed and long overdue. [A snake on a tree]( [Undercover sting busts black-market ring of snake traffickers in Florida]( Our Florida state director, Kate MacFall, recently presented an award recognizing Operation Viper, which produced eight arrests as a result of this undercover sting. [A tiger]( [Auction for animals]( The Humane Society of the United States and Humane Society International are excited to announce this year’s online auction, which will give you the opportunity to aid our life-changing work for all animals. [A person walking a happy dog]( [Animals need a lift]( Donate your car, truck, motorcycle, RV or boat to the Humane Society of the United States and we'll tow it for FREE, regardless of whether it runs or not.
