A video on a puppy mill rescue of approximately 250 dogs. [The Humane Society of the United States]() [Two small puppies being rescued]( {NAME}, Back in March, we helped rescue approximately 250 dogs and puppies from alleged cruelty cases at two puppy mills in Milburn, Oklahoma. Animals were found living in areas with overwhelming smells, surrounded by feces and urine, with undrinkable, green water. Some were kept outdoors and had inadequate protection from the elements. After getting the care and medical attention they needed, these dogs are now off in happier homes. [Rescues like this draw attention to the overwhelming cruelty of the puppy mill industry,]( with facilities pumping out as many dogs as possible. No dog or puppy deserves to live in filth, be deprived of play or denied the veterinary care that they need all for profit. John Goodwin, senior director of our Stop Puppy Mills campaign, said it best: "Whether selling puppies through a pet store, online or at a notorious flea market, operations which place profits over the well-being of dogs will continue to perpetuate unthinkable suffering." Thanks to our passionate supporters, we can fight this horrific industry and conduct rescues like these. The puppy mill industry is powerful and well-funded, but we have and will continue to beat them state by state across the country.
