Please urge NOAA Fisheries to defend the U.S. Marine Mammal Protection Act and protect defenseless baby seals. [The Humane Society of the United States]() [A seal cub]( {NAME}, Every year, tens of thousands of seal pups, most of them less than three months old, face a brutal end in Canada's commercial seal hunt. They are shot, clubbed and left to suffer agonizing deaths. But it could be far worse. The U.S. Marine Mammal Protection Act, which passed in 1972, is a vital law that has saved millions of defenseless baby seals from a gruesome fate in Canada's commercial seal hunt. Act now to save baby seals! [Tell NOAA Fisheries to strongly enforce this critical law.]( Despite the devastating impact of climate change on seal populations, the Canadian government and sealing industry representatives support the expansion of the commercial sealing industry, proposing annual kill levels as high as 600,000 seals. That is unacceptable. The U.S. Marine Mammal Protection Act has been a lifeline for these defenseless creatures, cutting off the market for seal products and preventing the import of seafood from fisheries that kill seals in excess of U.S. standards. [Please urge NOAA Fisheries to continue to protect these vulnerable animals and send a powerful message against cruelty and exploitation!]( [Take Action]( Photo by HSI [Facebook]( [Twitter]( [Instagram]( [YouTube]( [text]( [View in browser]( [Donate today to stand up for animals who need you.]( © 2024 [The Humane Society of the United States]() [1255 23rd St. NW, Suite 450, Washington, DC 20037]() donorcare@humanesociety.org | [202-452-1100](tel:202-452-1100) This message was sent to [{EMAIL}](mailto:).
