Friend, This is a quick but important reminder that today is World Elephant Day, and you can help protect elephants who are fighting for survival. [Please sign our petition urging the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to better protect African elephants!]( We are making progress toward our goal, but we still need you to add your name for us to have 10,000 petition signatures by midnight tonight. It’s critically important the USFWS knows the American public wants our government to do more to protect elephants—[so please take action for elephants right away!]( Thank you, Sara Amundson President Humane Society Legislative Fund ---------- Original message ---------- From: Sara Amundson Date: Saturday, August 12, 2023 Subject: 10,000 signatures for World Elephant Day [African elephants are running out of time. Take a action to protect them today!]( [Humane Society Legislative Fund]( [African elephants.]( [Help Save Elephants From Extinction]( [Take Action]( Friend, [Today is World Elephant Day, and we’re looking for 10,000 signatures in support of elephants by the end of the day!]( African elephant populations are in steep decline, and we must act fast to ensure their survival in the wild. Thankfully, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service proposed a rule late last year that would better regulate imports of African elephants and their parts—such as hunting trophies—to the U.S., helping to prevent the senseless killing of these animals, further protecting them from extinction. Today is the day when elephants need YOU, Friend, to add your name to HSLF’s petition calling on USFWS to finalize this rule. [Please sign the petition before World Elephant Day is over!]( [Take Action]( Since the early 20th century, the number of elephants in Africa has plummeted from nearly five million to approximately 400,000. The killing of African elephants for trophies is putting these majestic creatures at grave risk. This is the perfect time to make your voice heard in favor of better protection for elephants. Current regulations are simply not strong enough, which is why the new USFWS rule is so important. Trophy hunting is a horrific practice that should no longer be tolerated. But while we advocate ending trophy hunting for good, we are determined to see new regulations implemented to mitigate the serious harm that trophy hunting causes. This proposed rule from USFWS would be an improvement, and we’ve been fighting for stronger regulations like this for years. You can share your enthusiasm for this positive step forward, too. When it comes to protecting magnificent elephants, there’s no time to lose. [Sign the petition to protect elephants and help us reach our goal of 10,000 supporters taking a stand for elephants on World Elephant Day!]( Thank you, [Sara Amundson Signature] Sara Amundson President Humane Society Legislative Fund [Donate Now]( [Humane Society Legislative Fund]( 1255 23rd Street, NW, Suite 455 | Washington, DC 20037 [Donate]( | [Contact]( | [Privacy]( | [Blog]( [HSLF Facebook Logo]( [HSLF Twitter Logo]( [HSLF Youtube Logo]( © 2023 Humane Society Legislative Fund (HSLF) | All Rights Reserved This message was sent to {EMAIL}.
