Designer Kate Marker’s goal was to turn this literary lair into a second family room where everyone could hang out. To do that, she removed some shelves, making space for art and a dry bar, then added ample seating, a game table, and ottomans for kick-back time. Marker wasn't sure if she could bring herself to paint over the original millwork, but in an effort to modernize the room while playing off its original features, she chose an unforgettable color: Broccoli Brown by Farrow & Ball, a moody hue with hints of green that changes throughout the day. “If I lived here,” she says, “this is where I’d have coffee every morning and a drink at night.” [McCroskey Interiors updated a historic kitchen into a modern chef's dream.](     Shop the Whole Home Library [Pedra Petite Tail Sconces]( Pedra Petite Tail Sconces [SHOP NOW]( [Minted Wall Art (24x30)]( Minted Wall Art [SHOP NOW]( [Farrow & Ball Broccoli Brown]( Farrow & Ball Broccoli Brown [SHOP NOW]( [Ana Glass Cocktail Shaker]( Ana Glass Cocktail Shaker [SHOP NOW](     See the rest of the library [FULL TOUR](     [LiveIntent Logo]( [AdChoices Logo]( Follow Us [Unsubscribe]( | [Privacy Notice]( | [CA Notice at Collection]( House Beautiful is a publication of Hearst Magazines. ©2023 Hearst Magazine Media, Inc.
