Upon learning that one of her favorite patterns—Chinese Peony, pulled from a mid-19th-century English chintz—had been recolored and introduced as a fabric and wallpaper, Owens made the floral motif the centerpiece of this room. She painstakingly ensured that the pattern flowed seamlessly across the wall panels and canopied bed (otherwise, she remarks, the room would be “very trippy” and not relaxing at all). Smart additions like creamy white case goods, scalloped accessories, and graphic chevron prints help temper the space’s sweetness. “You’re surrounded by beauty,” says Owens.
