[Cole Schafer]( October 25, 2023 [fb]( [tw]( [in]( [email](mailto:?subject=Post%20from%20The%20Process.&body=Honey%20Smacks%20and%20Corn%20Pops%20with%20Chef%20Sean%20Brock%3A%20Greasy%20beans%2C%20vinyl%20bars%2C%20Cherokee%20war%20paint%20and%20creative%20process.%0A%0Ahttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.getthesticky.com%2Fp%2Fdreamland-1) I was first introduced to Sean Brock’s work several years back through my obsession with the late, great Anthony Bourdain. While Sean is sober now, there’s an episode in Part’s Unknown where he and Bourdain enjoy a drunken 1 a.m. dinner at Waffle House. Listening to Sean explain to Bourdain how the southern diner was a major inspiration in him becoming a chef was ultimately what sold me on him. I’ve probably watched and rewatched that episode a dozen times. Sean is an unpretentious, down to Earth, culinary workhorse producing some of the most creative recipes southern cuisine has ever seen. The James Beard Award Winning chef has the words “Brock Trucking Company” tattooed across his chest as a reminder of where he came from. Born and raised in Pound, Virginia, Sean was the first man in his family to find work that didn’t involve mining, trucking and hustling coal. He approaches his vocation with the same hard hat mentality as his forefathers; a dedication that has allowed him to create a whole slew of critically-acclaimed restaurants, cookbooks and television shows. I recently sat down with Chef Sean Brock at Dreamland Studios to talk greasy beans, vinyl bars, jumbo speakers that Willie Nelson may or may not have rolled a joint on, Poke Weed Salad, Cherokee war paint, mental health and his creative process. [Watch the interview]( Or, if you’re on the go, [you can listen]( wherever you get your podcasts. Not all creative-enhancing drugs are illegal. Hunter S. Thompson was the LSD-tripping maniac played by Johnny Depp in the book turned movie Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas. The film got a few folks intrigued with psychedelics, but it mostly just freaked everybody the fuck out. Take the opening line of the film for example… “ There was a terrible roar all around us and the sky was full of what looked like huge bats… ” Psychedelics, when abused, can be this. But, when taken thoughtfully in small, sub-hallucinogenic doses, you can experience the creativity-enhancing effects of psilocybin. [Schedule35]( is a trusted consumer psilocybin brand beloved by creatives all around North America. Every dose is precisely measured out, allowing you to tap into your creativity while avoiding a skyful of bats. Today, [Schedule35]( has been kind enough to gift Dreamland listeners and The Process readers 15% off their first order with code word “dreamland”. By [Cole Schafer]( P.S.
