I do not do many miles, no more than about 5000-6000 per year. The front offside tyre is low on tread and for sure needs replacing, the near side front has just under 4mm and I will also replace. Since I do so few miles, I am looking at all season tyres so that I can get maximum grip and stopping ability throughout the year, but the websites I am looking at (national chains) are recommending to replace all 4 tyres when fitting all weather tyres. My rear tyres both have between 5 and 6mm tread. Is it really necessary to replace the rears also? I knew the new price was £39,995 and cost of this one was £32,000. I decided to purchase the car. It was only when I purchased the road fund license (£560) that I investigated the website further and it appears that the paint finish of the car pushed the value over the £40,000 threshold. They gave the insurers and estimate of £3800 (this included the van be sanitized at £40). The insurers wrote my van off giving it a non structural Cat N decision. Its unladen weight is 2800 kg, gross weight is 3200 kg and it has always been MoT tested as a Class 4. A new MoT tester refused to test it saying that if its over 3000kg for the gross weight it's classed as MoT class 7 and as they can't test class 7. I would have to take it to a garage that does heavy vehicles and vans, have the MoT testing regulations changed ? On a number of occasions boot has opened and scraped against garage door causing minor damage. Also have returned to car on a number of occasions to find boot open. Dealership know this to be a problem but only suggestion seems to be a Faraday pouch or hang then keys up somewhere. Makes keyless useless.
