There is a local Jaguar specialist with a good reputation who is cheaper than a main dealer, but if it is serviced outside of the official Jaguar network, will this have an impact on resale value? Having just sold our Figaro, we're not too worried about the import side as obviously that was an import but are not sure about older hybrids and what servicing is required outside of what's needed for a normal petrol car. I have just read your description of yybrids as I didn't know anything about them and so know a bit more now. We were also bothered that the write up from the garage contained bad English, which always triggers alarm bells with me. What would we need to look out for on this car compared to if it was a Honda Jazz hybrid that was here already? And that garages and parking spaces are too small for the cars they are making? Around where I live most people can't even park outside their garages as the cars are too wide. I have tentatively narrowed my choices down to the Ford Puma 1.0 Ecoboost 155 mHEV ST Line or the Volkswagen T-Roc 1.0 TSI 110 Life or Style model - petrol models. An ex-demonstrator, pre-registered or no more than a year old. I have yet to test drive both but I have read your helpful reviews. Do I need to be concerned about the Ecoboost engine for the Ford Puma? Are Volkswagen engines reliable? I was a victim of the "defeat device" episode with my much loved Yeti. I wish Skoda still manufactured the Yeti - Kamiq/Kodiac lack visual appeal. The vw website is vague suggesting 4-5 years but check model yet there is no way on the website to do this. I have a California Ocean and a Golf 1.6 Diesel SE. What is the truth now? I do a short motorway run every week (about 30 miles each way). Otherwise it will be for short dual carriageway and city run around. I live in Devon so plenty of hills. Please can you advise? Does the same apply for spare tyres (or space saver ones)? I was just curious as while I think it's checked at service (is that correct?) but it's never been raised that the tyre needs changing. I’ve previously been recommended the Hyundai i20 and the Kia Picanto but the mpg ranges from 30 - 35 in some cases. Ideally I’d avoid SUV size. Could you recommend anything that meets my requirements? All services are done at that dealer and is due its 5th year service and MOT soon. I thought the cambelt change was also due on the five year anniversary. Today I contacted my local VW service centre and apparently VW have changed there recommendation to only when the vehicle reaches 140,000 miles. I have a email from VW to confirm this, are you aware of this recommendation and what are your thoughts? And if at some stage it breaks before the recommended mileage are VW responsible? I was thinking of replacing my car as to replace the cambelt will cost £1,175, that does not include the water pump as that is sealed for life and is not connected to the cambelt as its on the opposite side to the engine. but will probably keep it for now knowing I don't have to the expense of changing the cambelt. It has been parked up outside for a considerable number of years and is in need of a new body shell but the interior is in not a bad condition. I was going to sell it to someone who might want to restore it but I am unsure of how much to ask for it. Could you advise me please?
