[Forward]( [What small hatchback should I buy?]( Posted by on 7 July, 2023 Sadly it maybe time to part with my SEAT Leon Cupra which I bought new in 2003 as it requires approxiamately £1k of work though the engine and gearbox are perfect even after 150k miles. I would like a car that is interesting to drive and am considering an Ibiza FR but am unsure which engine Equally should I consider an alternative equivalent? It is a second car doing 5k miles per year and my budget is £7 to £9k. Your advice would be appreciated once again. I have just changed my car to one that has LEDs for the headlamps, tail lights, number plate and indicators etc, and am struggling to find a set of LED bulbs as I used to have for my previous incandescent bulb equipped car. Does the French law regarding spare bulbs still apply to LED equipped cars. And if so where can they be sourced? I only do 8500 miles per annum but half of that is motorway. Is 1700rpm @ 60mph fast enough to keep the dpf clear? I am having to use E5 fuel and would appreciate your guidance on which additive(s) would help protect the Jaguar XK engine? I believe lead replacement is less of an issue with this engine but I am concerned about the adverse effects of the ethanol content of E5 petrol. I am a mid-40s female and ot entirely sure how I will use a car as I've mostly been "car free" and owned a car when I lived in my home country. I live in Brighton and I dream of buying a microcamper van. I'm not sure it's a wise choice as I'm not entirely clear how I will use the car just yet but I am wondering if there are any cars that are good for city living but are suitable for outdoor enthusiasts who might want to throw a tent and lots of stuff from home into a boot. The car needs to be petrol, manual, preferably with steel wheels, a full size spare, cheap to maintain and service, five doors, size up to Vauxhall Corsa or similar, boot size to hold a weekly shop for four and up to £10000 and four years old. Simple controls would be useful as I'm not into complicated tech devices. She needs a reliable automatic, probably with a petrol engine as much of the use is stop start. It's likely she will only cover 10,000 miles a year. In her role she will be expected to visit in winter. Are winter tyres or 4x4 better. She accepts new may be out of reach, but if a new option is there we'd be interested to hear. I'd buy a new Nissan Micra if they were still made, or a Skoda Fabia if there wasn't a 22 week wait. Please identify for me some smallish 4/5 door petrol cars, not automatic, with under 1.5 litre engines. If possible, please specify width as I have a narrow space for parking. I previously had a diesel and found that cutting down on motorway journeys meant my dpf filter egv valve was costly to replace. So now I want petrol as I have a budget of 21k and want a car that's 4-5 years old but also fairly new less than 40k mileage.
