I plan to trade in my 2014 BMW 520d Luxury with 76,000 miles. Both cars have a full service history and are in very good condition. Does the “Luxury” model attract a higher value than the SE model? Roughly, how much should I be changing for? What do you think? I will only be traveling about 7000 miles a year. My other choice would be Suzuki Vitara. The car has 7800 miles and cost me £9,900. It seems to function properly, except an unusual incident. Yesterday as I was descending quite a steep hill I used the brake pedal to reduce speed from 40mph to 30mph over approx 250 meters. I suppose something was heating up as I could hear a noise coming from the offside front wheel, akin to a pebble caught in the tyre, except I checked it and there was none. I noticed that the wheel has a different tyre (a cheaper one), which leads me to think that the previous owner probably hit something, ruined the original tyre and they didn't want want to put too much money in a car that would soon be returned to the dealer so a cheaper brand was deemed a better choice. I purchased the car two weeks ago, but I fear that if I go to Toyota without proof or being able to reproduce the noise (there are no hills close to that area), I will be dismissed easily (and possibly pay for a visual inspection that will find nothing, as they already 'checked' the car before selling it to me). What can I do? I will try to record the noise, but it will be difficult and prove little, and if I wait until the noise gets louder, it will probably mean (if not already too late, as I have done 200 miles) that it is somehow my fault or normal wear/tear. This is not how I imagined a 3 year old car would be. It has a full service history, one owner and recent cam belt change. However, it has done 83,000 miles. My wife says it’s too high mileage whereas I was thinking that it has been well cared for and always run up to temperature. What do you think? The rear offside door does not respond and cannot be opened from the outside etc. Is this an MoT failure? [Read more →]( You received this email because you signed up to our mailing list.
