[Forward]( [Do petrol cars have particulate filter problems?]( Posted by on 14 October, 2022 I've thinking of changing my car, one possible buy is a Vauxhall Corsa. On looking through the technical specifications on the dealer's website for a 22 plate car it states the cars have particulate filters. This is with petrol engines. Does this mean that problems could arise if the car is only used for short trips like diesel powered vehicles? I no longer need the car but am loathed to lose my deposit so am wondering whether I should take delivery and then sell immediately. The model is a 2.0-litre petrol 4WD, Auto, Elegance in black. Any idea how desirable these are at the moment vis a vis a potential private sale? Are there any specialists or auctions for nearly new cars? I used to convert my new car to Autogas since 2000 but looking at number of garages selling the fuel seems to be falling. It was a good cheap fuel and a sad loss. A used BMW 3 Series Touring is top of my wish list, typically 2014-19 vintage, max spend up to £30,000 with a "reasonably low mileage" and a sunroof and a six cylinder engine, preferably petrol, but not totally adverse to a decent (BMW) oil burner. Or am I too optimistic hoping to fit all that in, considering my max spend? Any other suggestions of similar motors that give a similar relaxed comfort and sense of well being like my current steed would be very welcome too. Preferably estate versions but could also look at a hatchback or a roomy convertible. I definitely prefer rear wheel drive. However, it has done 15,000 miles from new (new at November 2019), but its first service was last month, when the main dealer serviced and MOTâd it. So no service history. How worried should I be about this lack of any attention for three years? It drives fine, but Iâm no mechanic. My local Renault/Dacia garage say that they are unable to confirm that the servicing has been completed as per schedule as the car is not local to them and they have no way of checking. I seem to recall that some car manufacturers can provide a detailed servicing history on request - but Renault/Dacia are not one of them. Owing to data protection rules I am unable to contact the previous owner to check further on my car's history. Can you suggest any other course of action?
