Dealer advised this at last MoT and it has never had an accident or hit pothole. Only front offside and four years old at 21,000 miles. Have you ever had reports of other alloy rims buckling ? Is this increase due to the shortage of components? I have a new car due for delivery in December, should I sell my A8 now. (Only use the car very occasionally). But when using the windscreen wipers for the first time, following a spell of dry weather, she noticed several light scratches on the screen directly in her vision. On contacting the dealership they advised the scratches were due to debris having collected on the wiper rubber due to the dry weather. When used, the "grit" has scratched the glass, they claim. They have declined to consider the matter further by advising she should contact a windscreen repair company if she wants to have the scratches removed. As the windscreen was wet prior to the wipers being activated how probable is it that grit on the blades was the cause? My daughter has owned the car for less than a month and has driven less than 100 miles. I am reading very conflicting reports regarding the cam belt. The vehicle manual states it is a "lifetime belt" and it needs to be checked at 160,000 kilometres. Volkswagen Europe apparently confirms this but recommend checking at 120,000 kilometres. Volkswagen UK however is saying the belt needs replacing after five years. Can you tell me when I should change the belt in miles? Will the water pump also need to be replaced? Volkswagen say the cam belt should be replaced at five years or 100,000 miles but cannot tell me why the replacement is time-related, only that it is an 'advisory'. Can you please explain me why a can belt replacement is time-related. The front two tyres are at the legal limit and need replacing. The rear tyres still have about 4mm of tread remaining. I intend to change the front two tyres with Michelin Cross Climates. I appreciate the fact that these vehicles hold their value incredibly well and therefore I will have to pay a hefty price to get one, but presumably I will get a good price when the time comes to sell it. The equipment that comes with the Caravelle Executive suits our needs well, leather seats, moveable seats on tracks etc, and large opening barn door at rear etc. My questions: Which is the best engine? I fancy the 2.5-litre engine which I believe is chain driven but is the 2.0 TDI a good option? I have always driven manual transmission cars (and would prefer a manual van but there are not many available. Is the DSG auto a good alternative?
