[What's the best SUV under £40,000?](
Posted by on 17 September, 2020
Which SUV for under £40,000 has the lowest emissions for the lowest VED upfront cost and annual cost? We are looking for a Hybrid SUV and the shortlist is Hyundai Tucson or Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. We will be keeping it for the next six years. Can you suggest anything better? We are worried about Mitsubishi pulling out of the UK though and the impact on parts and service availability within this time. Many thanks.

[Why does the door of my car rattle?](
Posted by on 17 September, 2020
I've taken my 19-plate Mercedes-Benz C-Class Convertible to be looked at because the passenger door rattles a lot. I was told it was just the sound that convertibles make. What is your opinion, I think that's rubbish and intend to go back in but would like your thoughts.

[Can you recommend a petrol car to tow a heavy caravan?](

[What should I do before I garage my car for a few weeks?](
Posted by on 16 September, 2020
My son wishes to store Land Rover Freelander for several weeks in a barn. The local garage has told him to disconnect his fully charged battery but I have advised against this as this procedure could upset the electronics. If you agree, what trickle charger would you recommend for the 2010 model? I presume it is advisable to try to move the vehicle a bit every 3 to 4 weeks and aim to slightly over-inflate the tyres, too. Many thanks.

[Which estates have flat floors with the rear seats folded down?](
Posted by on 15 September, 2020
I own a Mk6 Volkswagen Golf Estate. I want my next car to have a flat floor too. However, after viewing a few new estates, I see that many don't offer a completely flat boot with the seat folded down. Would you please recommend any estate cars that have the flat floor after folding seats? Thank you very much.

[What should I ask the dealer when buying a used car?](
Posted by on 15 September, 2020
I'm looking to buy a Golf GTI 2017-2018 at a Volkswagen dealer soon. I know about the DSG servicing at 40,000 miles, but what other problems do I need to be wary of? What is regarded at being high mileage for the years I'm looking at? Many thanks.

[If I cancel my insurance, do I lose my No Claims from the year?](
Posted by on 15 September, 2020
We were due to buy a used car and sold our car in readiness to buy and, therefore, just transfer the insurance. However, we were unable to come to a deal so walked away. We've got 6 weeks left on the current insurance yet we no longer own the car. Do we legally have to cancel the policy or is it ok to keep the insurance running? It'll cost more to cancel than get back in premiums. Also, if I cancel, will I lose a year's no claims discount? Thanks.

[Can you recommend a safe, economical car for driving in narrow lanes?](
Posted by on 15 September, 2020
We currently have a BMW 5 Series on a lease. We drive around town and do a 60-minute motorway commute (roundtrip) each day. Weâre moving to a rural cottage down narrow country lanes, but will still be doing the commute, so thinking of swapping the lease car to something cheaper. What car is good for narrow roads in winter. i.e. not too big, but still safe, economical and good to put a dog in the back?

[I lost my C1 licence category after I turned 70. Can I get this restored?](
Posted by on 15 September, 2020
I turned 70 in 2017 and renewed my driving licence by post as I wanted to retain my C1 category to drive a 7.5-tonne horsebox. However, for some reason, I no longer have the C1 on my licence. Can I have this restored? How do I go about getting it restored? Thank you.

[Can you recommend a seven seater?](
Posted by on 14 September, 2020
I'm looking to change my 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe to a newer car. I'd like something that has seven seats and the same interior space as the Hyundai. I've looked at a Land Rover Discovery Sport, but it's smaller than the Santa Fe but it's too big. I would like something new or up to 3 years old. Thanks.

I need to buy new tyres soon. The tyres fitted are Michelin Energy but Michelin seem pricey on the sites I have researched so far. I intend to keep the car for the foreseeable future - are they a good investment or are there other recommendations? Your thoughts would be appreciated.

[Why are their differing mpg ans CO2 figures for some models?](
Posted by on 13 September, 2020
I'm looking to buy a used Hyundai i10 but am confused by the differing mpg and emissions data for the 2017 - 2019 1.0-litre models. I did not think that the i10 had been changed during this period. Is it just that the ways of measuring have been altered over these years, or are the 2017 models really more efficient than the more recent models? Thanks.
