After picking up the car we noticed that the rear parking sensors were faulty and notified the dealer accordingly. We were asked to return the car for diagnosis and it was confirmed the sensors required replacement. After much chasing and excuses the car was eventually booked in to have the work carried out after almost 3 months. The car has been returned with working sensors, however unlike the ones that were removed they have not been colour coded so we have black sensors against a grey bumper. Is it reasonable to expect the sensors to be colour coded or the fact that they now has the dealer fulfiller their obligation to? After waiting so long for the work to be done I had an expectation that they would be perfect and I'm disappointed at the end result. There were no signs of any issue when I had it. The car was sold as seem and test driven. There was only partial service history when sold and the service history was sent to them so they had all the available details as well as the MoT details which had shock absorbers as an advisory. I was upfront about this issue and the partial service history before they bought the car and discounted it to cover this and the future repairs to the shock absorbers. Now I don't know where I stand on the money as they want compensation as they paid me £2465 for a 63 reg corsa with about 72000 miles on it and paid to fix the shock absorbers straight away and then the timing chain went while driving and destroyed the engine so they scrapped it for £180. They did advise me that it failed to start a few times which I feel is when they should have got it checked as it could have been fixed before it got that far. Yesterday, I was charged for 17 Kwh of energy that was not transferred to my car. Monta took my money on behalf of Rolec, the owners of the charger. My BMW i3 didn’t register any charge, as confirmed by my BMW app. The Monta app showed the transfer of 17 Kwh. Is this an issue that you are aware of elsewhere within your regular followers? I’m now having to fight for a rebate. His budget is tight for the replacement - £8k maximum. I have found a 9 year old 1.33 Dual VVT-i Toyota Yaris for sale but it's only covered 8k miles (1 owner). The MoT history stacks up with this. Is there a problem with a car having been driven so little? Should we risk it? We have a charging point already but unsure whether to buy a used electric or petrol? We are considering a Peugeot e-208e or Vauxhall Corsa Electric or a petrol Audi A1. We're not sure if the value of the EVs will continue to depreciate quickly? The car was ten months old. When I collected the car I did not notice that it had three tyres of one brand but the fourth was different. I should have seen this of course but did not check properly before I drove it away. I then became pre-occupied by the unwanted "driver assistance" menus and only realised the problem when the tyre pressure warning light alerted me. The dealer's workshop looked at the matter and reported that the tyres were all correctly inflated, as indeed they were. Not really the point. Still the tyre pressure warning light persisted. Having at last examined the tyres even I saw the mismatch. Since the dealer showed little interest I went elsewhere for a new tyre to match the other three. My question: Is it illegal for a dealer to deliver me a car with mixed tyres? [Read more →]( [What is the best used van for £7000?]( Posted by on 9 July, 2024 What is the best van to buy? The bodywork is in pretty good condition for the age as is the interior. The car last ran 5 years ago and has been stored indoors. It requires outriggers and has some rust on the bottom of the doors. The car has has 6 previous owners and has been in our family for over 30 years. The repossession company bought the motorhome (they tell me) at auction. They also write that they cannot sell if for more than 25% of its current value - which means it looks like a bargain. They tell me the vehicle is in storage (near Stromness in the Orkneys), but they will deliver it which is included in the payment I would make. They want the all money (£9000) up front before I have seen it and will then deliver it. They have changed the registration plate (as a result of the original plate being a personal plate they tell me). The original plate was a '17' registration, the new one is '05', but checking on line the vehicle was first registered in 2017. The specific model of motorhome did not exist in 2005. Does this sound genuine or a scam? [Read more →]( [What is the speed limit for a Ford Transit?]( Posted by on 9 July, 2024 What is the speed limit for a Mk7 Ford Transit? We have had threats for a year then they stopped as the relatives said they had sorted it out. now a letter arrived (at the wrong address) stating they wanted £170 or they will pass the fine to a solicitor. The person who drove the car no longer lives in the UK. It seems strange that after all these years we suddenly start getting letters again and over the past month one every week demanding money. My question is as I am the owner of the car am I liable or is it for the person who parked the car at the hospital car park liable? They are unlikely to pay it as they live on the other side of world and won't be coming back. I have been away for a month so I haven't communicated with the company. She received no reminders, so applied online. The system said it couldn't identify her. So she phoned DVLC who (after a very long wait) said that her photo needed renewing - not sure why as her passport pic is valid. She's had to fill in an application in pen and ink, send a new photo, and a postal order (really !) for £18. She posted everything off, and enclosed her 'old' licence, signature required. It's been received OK. The new licence may take some time to arrive, we understand - what happens if she has to produce a driving licence in the meantime ? And is there any way we can expedite delivery ? FYI we thought we'd use the Post Office assisted service, but they won't touch any 70+ stuff.
