Our last car was a Skoda Octavia, which was perfect for space and running costs, including insurance. I would really appreciate advice on choice of estate car. Either hybrid or fully electric. No more than £15,000. [Read more →]( [What should we replace our Peugeot 208 with?]( Posted by on 28 March, 2024 My wife wants to replace her 2012 Peugeot 208. We have looked at similar sized Kia and Hyundai vehicles but nothing is really grabbing our attention. We have seen a Suzuki Swift automatic with only 660 miles in the clock for £15690 which seems a good price but my wife would like a digital speedo which I don't think the Suzuki has. Are there other smaller automatics that we should be looking at? The car will only cover about 4000 miles a year and we aim to keep it for a lengthy period of time. I read somewhere they dont fit the new Peugeot 3008. I presume therefore it would be the same for a new 2008, due to the smaller and slightly flattened wheel. If this is the case could you recommend an alternative please? We have family living 150 miles away and we do fortnightly trips to visit them. With other local trips we cover around 10,000 miles per year. Do I just press on with it until either I or the car expires? Would I be able to lease at my current age? I would need something about the same size as the Verso to transport myself, my wife, our dog and luggage. For some strange reason we seem to fill the Verso on each return trip. Are there advantages to these over main dealers and when are they good and bad? I only use my car for social journeys, no regular motorway driving. There is so much online discussion about fuel quality, fuel additives, etc in relation to how it affects your engine. What do you think is best? Is this illegal or dangerous? The supplying dealer says this is causing tyre pressure monitoring faults, the tyre dealer says it isn't a problem. Under certain sunlit conditions I notice small scratches on the windscreen. It looks like it has been cleaned with a cloth that had a piece of grit in it. Is there a way to get these removed please? She's had no further seizures since and her NHS consultant has said that the reason for the seizure is unexplained. DVLA rules in this instance state that you can't drive for 6 months from the date of the last seizure. She can re apply for her licence again exactly 6 months after the date of the last seizure. The question I have is that can she drive from the 6 month anniversary of the seizure whilst the licence application is away with DVLA being processed or does she have to wait for the licence to be physically returned from DVLA and in her possession before she can start driving again? There is conflicting advice on the internet as to what the process is here? This happens every time we have a cold night. I make regular trips to my house in Spain, and tend fo keep my cars for 10+ years. What could replace it, in terms of space, pace, reliability, and thrills? I am really struggling, and wondering if it makes more sense to invest instead in the maintenance needed on the Civic, which I am very attached to. Budget is only £20,000 - which is why it perhaps makes more sense to keep the Civic? It would need to be comfortable in the back and for longer trips. Also, any lane assist must be possible to turn off once only, it’s so annoying when you have to turn it off whenever you restart the car. Is this normal or should both light up? Getting into these looks far too complicated for someone as ham-fisted as me so I cannot get to the actual bulbs. I have emailed Hyundai customer service and my local main dealer with this question but neither replied. I use a small independent garage for servicing so cannot be sure they would have the information for this exact trim level. Secondary question, I have seen advertised LED replacement bulbs for reversing lights, do you consider these to be advisable? The latest G29 M4s are not fitted with runflats by BMW and lots of drivers say comfort levels are much improved with regular tyres. If I go for that option, which tyres should I buy? I'm not on a limited budget.
