But practiclly, it needs to get done, because old, expired food doesn't deserve a place in your home. This article helps by helping you to learn how to declutter food cupboards, pantry shelves and other shelf-stable food in your home, and explains the three choices for what to do with the food when doing this task. There are also photos from readers who've already done this task, to show you what an improvement you can experience in your cupboards and pantry when you do this mission for yourself! Those who find this most helpful are those people who like to have certain "pantry staples" in their food cupboards or pantries at all times. An inventory is a simple way to keep track of those staples, that you never want to be without, to help you know when to stock up on more of a certain category or type of food, when you've got enough, and when you need to plan some meals to use up a few ingredients that are still good, but getting a bit older and need to be used soon. Don't get bogged down in this task, so instead of doing a meticulous inventory I suggest doing a "loose" one. What I mean by a loose inventory is that I think it's good to know you've got approximately 8-10 cans of soup, but I don't think you need to list the exact types and their expiration dates, for example. Get the most benefit from the least amount of effort is my motto! You can get more explanation, plus get your free printable form in the article linked below.
