The brash co-founder of Vice will become a correspondent for Vice News, returning to a role creating content for the media brand, which filed for bankruptcy protection a year ago, and laid off much of its staff earlier this year in a major restructuring. Smith will also host a podcast for Bill Maher’s Club Random Studios Network called Vice News: The Truth. The video podcast, which will occasionally feature Maher, will debut this summer. [The story.]( —Return to Panem. Suzanne Collins and her publisher Scholastic on Thursday announced that a new installment in The Hunger Games series will be released next year. The new book — the fifth in the series — will be called Sunrise on the Reaping, and is set for release March 18, 2025. Sunrise will take place 24 years before the events of the first novel The Hunger Games, “starting on the morning of the reaping of the Fiftieth Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell,” per Scholastic. As Hollywood continues to adjust to the steady march of AI into the business, SAG-AFTRA has debuted a waiver for performers who are working on personalized audio commercials incorporating the technology. The actors union’s “Dynamic AI Audio Commercials Waiver,” announced to members on Tuesday, seeks to manage how voice performances from union members are used and compensated in AI-assisted ads that change according to the specific listener or the context. [The story.]( —🤝 Sold! 🤝 Banijay U.K. has acquired production company Caryn Mandabach Productions, producers of the global hit Peaky Blinders. Caryn Mandabach has plans to pivot to a first-look development and producer agreement with Banijay U.K. under her newly formed Conduit Productions umbrella. It means that CMP’s slate of projects and back catalog transfers to Banijay. The group will manage all future series, spinoffs and brand ventures resulting from that IP, including the recently-announced Peaky Blinders movie officially in the works at Netflix. The Oscar winner joins the starry ensemble of the Apple TV+ media series that is led by executive producers Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, along with season three stars Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, Greta Lee, Jon Hamm and Nicole Beharie. [The story.]( —Ice to survive. A docuseries with “unprecedented access” to top NHL stars is coming to Amazon Prime Video. The streamer has picked up a still-untitled docuseries from Drive to Survive producer Box To Box Films and NHL Productions that will follow some of the biggest stars and teams in the sport. Among the players being featured in the series will be Edmonton Oilers stars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl; Boston Bruins teammates David Pastrnak and Jeremy Swayman; New York Rangers captain Jacob Trouba; Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes, among others. [The story.]( —Unconventional family. Amazon Prime Video is developing Off Color, a semi-autobiographical comedy created by and starring Theater Camp breakout Owen Thiele. The project counts showrunner Brian Gallivan, Ilana Glazer, and former Comedy Central execs Kent Alterman and Sarah Babineau among its exec producers. Off Color is based on Thiele’s unconventional adopted family. The logline reads, "He’s gay and Black, they’re all Jewish, his mom should be on Real Housewives and his cousin’s a former party girl turned Rabbi-in-training." [The story.]( —Back for more. Paramount+ has ordered a third season of Criminal Minds: Evolution, a continuation of CBS’ long-running Criminal Minds that features much of the original show’s cast and is headed by longtime showrunner Erica Messer. The renewal comes a day before Evolution’s second season premiere. The show’s second season (and 17th in the main Criminal Minds franchise) begins shortly after the events of the season one finale (though in the real world, it’s been 16 months since it last aired). [The story.]( —Back in the chair. One of the original coaches on The Voice is making a return to the show. Adam Levine will take a spot in the red swivel chair for the NBC talent competition’s 27th season in spring 2025. The Maroon 5 frontman departed The Voice in 2019 after serving as a coach for the show’s first 16 seasons. Levine will be joined by country star Kelsea Ballerini, who will make her full-time coaching debut; John Legend, who will take his 10th turn in the red chairs; and Michael Bublé, who is joining the show in the fall. The network announced Wednesday that the forthcoming third season of All American: Homecoming will be its last. The college-set spinoff of All American is set to premiere July 8. The murder mystery, now filming, takes place in England in 1936, as a toxic love triangle ensues while a troubled detective attempts to solve a web of lies before another victim meets their fate. [The story.]( —🎭 Full cast reveal 🎭 Controversial Vanderpump Rules star Tom Sandoval, Selling Sunset's Chrishell Stause and Britney Spears’ ex-husband Sam Asghari are among the reality TV names who have been tapped for the third season of Peacock’s breakout competition series Traitors. A YouTube reveal by series host Alan Cumming announced the full cast that also includes Zac Efron’s brother Dylan, Bob the Drag Queen and professional wrestler Nikki Garcia.
