And it’s handsome as heck, to boot!"   This particular El Primero is a modified version of the automatic Caliber 3620 from 2022’s Defy Skyline 41: In order to better display the escapement, the 1/10th sub-seconds display has been shifted from 9 o’clock to 6 o’clock – a more traditional dial layout than that of its predecessor, to be sure, but one that also makes for a more balanced feel. Kitted out with a 60-hour power reserve and 30 jewels, the El Primero Caliber 3620 beats at a quick-tempoed 5Hz frequency. Flip the subtly faceted, 41mm stainless steel case over, and one is greeted with a sapphire caseback displaying a star-shaped oscillating wheel in matching black. This also gives a view of the ingenious quick-release system that graces the watch’s integrated steel bracelet, making it a cinch to switch this out for an included matching, black rubber strap. A 12-sided bezel lends the Skyline a distinct “luxury sports watch” air, while a screw-down crown ensures 100m of water resistance – meaning this is certainly not a watch one needs to baby.
