The watch is available today in three colorways. The Spirit Flyback is a remarkably streamlined, clean and legible flyback chronograph. It features 100M of water resistance and is powered by the L791 caliber, which is visible through the sapphire crystal caseback. The watch is available today in two colorways. A “flyer” GMT equipped with an independently adjustable local hour hand, this latest addition to the Spirit line of pilot’s watches is most welcome, indeed. For around $3,000 you’re getting a “true” GMT in one of several fetching dial/bezel combinations on an excellent bracelet — all of which make for a truly versatile tool watch that can do double duty as an everyday piece of EDC. Built around an easy-wearing 39mm stainless steel case with a mix of brushed and polished surfaces, the Zulu Time is equipped with a signed, screw-down crown — minus crown guards, for a throwback look — that ensures 100m of water resistance. A reflective, bidirectional bezel with a black ceramic 24-hour insert injects some welcome pizazz into a watch that’s mostly business, as does the matching stainless steel bracelet with a signed, push button-activated, triple-safety clasp and a nicely engraved caseback. Reading is a breeze with the simple, oversized Arabic numerals that recall the brand’s early designs and are accompanied by diamond-shaped markers that have a particular mid-century appeal. Compared to other chronographs in the line, the date window has been removed, as well as one sub dial, which directly contributes to the focused and legible feel. As a final element of this functional design, a bidirectional bezel with a ceramic insert encircles the dial.
