Our winning plan
Friend --
You know that polls are tightening across the country, that this election is going to be close, and [that every donation matters as we fund the final push to November 8th.]
But since it's my job to track what's happening on the ground in the states (including some states you don't hear a lot about), I think it's worth taking a step back and assessing what we've already done on the ground -- and where we're headed in the final five days of this election. So far, more than 25 million people have already voted, in no small part because our teams across the country are hustling folks to the the polls, encouraging them to send in their vote-by-mail ballots, and getting them excited about voting as soon as they can.
Take a look at the stats:
Wisconsin: Early votes are coming in from major Democratic counties compared to GOP strongholds by a margin of 2 to 1. In fact, last week, the city of Madison (home to the University of Wisconsin) broke its 2012 early voting record.
Nevada: More than half a million people have voted so far, and turnout in Clark County is up 17 percent compared to this point in 2012 -- Democrats are outpacing the GOP.
North Carolina: More than two million people have voted, up from this point in 2012. On Tuesday, nearly 5,000 more African American voters cast ballots than on the same day in 2012. Democratic counties are surging -- Durham is outpacing 2012 by 19 percent, Mecklenburg County is outpacing 2012 by 6 percent, and Wake County is outpacing 2012 by 17 percent.
Florida: More early votes have now been cast in Florida than in all of 2012. More African Americans voterd yesterday in Florida than any day so far in 2016.
Ohio: In the last seven days, early voting in person turnout outpaced the same seven days in 2012 by about 30 percent. More than half of all the votes have come in over the past week, and more voters have cast ballots in person than at this point in 2012.
Arizona: Last night, at a rally in Tempe, 15,000 people came out to hear from Hillary Clinton. It was one of our biggest rallies of the entire election cycle, and we'll be able to tap all those enthusiastic supporters to recruit volunteers. And in October, 13 percent of early votes in Arizona came from Latino voters, up from 11 percent at the same point in 2012.
This is what a true organizing operation does. This election will have record turnout -- because Hillary is an incredible candidate, because Trump is a terrifying alternative, and because our GOTV program is strong as hell.
You're funding that. Don't stop now -- if we want to end as strong as we started, we need to keep it up. The nation is counting on you.
