Known as Webbâs First Deep Field, this image of galaxy cluster SMACS 0723 is overflowing with detail. Thousands of galaxies â including the faintest objects ever observed in the infrared â have appeared in Webbâs view for the first time. This slice of the vast universe covers a patch of sky approximately the size of a grain of sand held at armâs length by someone on the ground. This deep field, taken by Webbâs Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam), is a composite made from images at different wavelengths, totaling 12.5 hours â achieving depths at infrared wavelengths beyond the Hubble Space Telescopeâs deepest fields, which took weeks. The image shows the galaxy cluster SMACS 0723 as it appeared 4.6 billion years ago. The combined mass of this galaxy cluster acts as a gravitational lens, magnifying much more distant galaxies behind it. Webbâs NIRCam has brought those distant galaxies into sharp focus â they have tiny, faint structures that have never been seen before, including star clusters and diffuse features. Researchers will soon begin to learn more about the galaxiesâ masses, ages, histories, and compositions, as Webb seeks the earliest galaxies in the universe." There is no other reality than present reality, so that, even if one were to live for endless ages, to live for the future would be to miss the point everlastingly.â - Alan Watts You matter not because of what youâve done or what you will do someday. Your matterfulness has nothing to do with accomplishments or victories. Those things are nice but certainly not prerequisites. Itâs quite simple actually. You matter because you are here. Now. This moment. This inhale. This thin-slice of infinity. You are here. Now. Just because of this, you matter. Stripped of all preconditions and checked-boxes. You donât need any badges or special status. Nothing fancy or flashy is required. Simply because you are here, you matter. This blossoming instant. This exhale. This everlasting second. Here and now. Yours and mine. All of us in this erupting chorus of life. All of life is significant. Your life is significant. You matter. Truly, you do. ð§ Clear Pebbles of The Rain Enjoy this classic from Mary Oliver: âYou do not have to be good. You do not have to walk on your knees for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting. You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves. Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine. Meanwhile the world goes on. Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain are moving across the landscapes, over the prairies and the deep trees, the mountains and the rivers. Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air, are heading home again. Whoever you are, no matter how lonely, the world offers itself to your imagination, calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting â over and over announcing your place in the family of things.â ð¤ Learn This Word Indrastand: when you realize that you're just one node of consciousness with finite capacity attempting to understand infinite complexity. Once a doctor, Ruizâs life took a dramatic turn when he was in a car accident and had an out-of-body experience. It was then that he realized he needed to pursue the study of the wisdom tradition passed down through his family. The wisdom tradition of his family was that of the Toltecs, an ancient Mesoamerican people who were the intellectual and cultural predecessors to the Aztecs. Ruiz became a shaman in the Toltec tradition and a spiritual teacher. After 15 years of teaching and learning about methods of healing the human mind, Ruiz wrote The Four Agreements, a concise, practical guide to his most fundamental lessons. â[Continue Reading]()â ð¡ Learn Something New On Friday we'll release the latest issue of [Stairway To Wisdom](=) including a breakdown of Make It Stick: The Science of Successful Learning by Peter C. Brown, Henry L. Roediger III, and Mark A. McDaniel. Here's a taste of what's inside: âMany people believe that their intellectual ability is hardwired from birth, and that failure to meet a learning challenge is an indictment of their native ability. But every time you learn something new, you change the brain - the residue of your experiences is stored. It's true that we start life with the gift of our genes, but it's also true that we become capable through the learning and development of mental models that enable us to reason, solve, and create. In other words, the elements that shape your intellectual abilities lie to a surprising extent within your own control. Understanding that this is so enables you to see failure as a badge of effort and a source of useful information - the need to dig deeper or to try a different strategy. The need to understand that when learning is hard, you're doing important work."
